Weather Challenged 2025 Key West Sailfish Tournament
Despite nautical offshore weather and angry seas, the 2025 Key West Sailfish Tournament participants prevailed. These highly competitive teams had some awesome results, with 72 sailfish releases. I had the pleasure of volunteering for this premier Key West Sailfish Tournament, along side some of the best in the business. Working events, helping at the weigh in and working the live radio call ins made for an experience of a lifetime!

Key West Sailfish Tournament
The 2025 Key West Sailfish Tournament was one not to be missed. It’s a two day, shoot out style tournament that attracts some of the top teams in the country. The weather for the 2025 was nautical creating an extra exciting tournament, and included high seas, a tornado warning, a significant thunderstorm and a large amount of rain.

Captains Meeting
The Key West Sailfish Tournament hosts a beautiful captain’s meeting at Dante’s, overlooking a perfect sunset. Teams get together for tournament rules, and to catch up on what’s been going on since last year’s tournament. With amazing sponsors and a well organized set up, it’s an event not to be missed!

Stormy Tournament Fishing
Tournament fishing days were filled with storms and high seas, but these teams were dedicated to winning. Listening in on the tournament radio, you could hear these crews working tirelessly, until the very last minute to catch and release as many sailfish as possible. In all, 72 sailfish were released along with several fun fish brought in to be weighed.

Time to Celebrate
The top teams were from all over the country, but second place was taken by the local Outer Limits team. The tournament ended with a wonderful (nearly rain free) dinner and awards ceremony at Dante’s, followed by fun and auctions at Tattoos and Scars. It was amazing to listen to so many unique stories from the teams about their days out on the water and all the great catches! Can’t wait for next year’s Key West Sailfish Tournament!
